An exploration of visual narrative devices, compositions, and level of detail. For this illustration I went for a puppeteer motif while keeping the focal point away from the marionettes to maintain a sense of mystery and intrigue.

Using historical color palettes and fashion plates for inspiration, I settled on pink and blue as final options since they feature in an anecdote about Mme de Pompadour. I selected the lighter pink, as its more feminine coding allows the reader to visually infer courtesanship.
